ClinixMIS Implements Correct Coding Initiative Edits for Medicare Compliance

(Nashville, TN, March 12, 2004) — Clinix Medical Information Services today announced the addition of real time Correct Coding Initiative Edits to its ASP-based Medical Group Management system. CCI Edits or Correct Coding Initiative Edits were developed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and are now the coding requirements for physicians that submit claims to Medicare.

These edits eliminate improper coding of procedures and diagnosis. This new feature, available immediately to all ClinixMIS clients, identifies codes that do not pair or are unreasonable and helps further eliminate patient administration inaccuracies. This is especially useful in cases where several procedures or services have been provided on the same day with one patient.

By offering the latest in coding edits, Clinix MIS further alleviates the pressure and burden placed on doctors and health care providers while continuing to diminish the opportunity for medical errors. As the user posts charges to the system the CCI Edit process is working on a real time basis and will inform the user of any errors indicating the specific reason for the error.
